Itinerary

Day 1:Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

Your Mzanga Safaris guide will pick you up from Kampala or Entebbe and begin the journey to Kidepo Valley National Park in northeastern Uganda. The drive takes you through diverse landscapes, including rolling hills, rural communities, and the semi-arid plains of Karamoja. Along the way, enjoy scenic views and cultural insights into one of Uganda’s most unique regions before arriving in Kidepo Valley National Park in the evening.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Karamojong Cultural Experience

Start the day with an early morning game drive through the wildlife-rich Narus Valley, the park’s prime game-viewing area. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, lions, giraffes, zebras, hartebeests, elands, oribis, and numerous bird species. In the afternoon, visit a traditional Karamojong manyatta (homestead) to learn about the customs, traditions, and pastoral lifestyle of the Karamojong people. Enjoy traditional dances and gain insight into one of East Africa’s most fascinating cultures.

Day 3: Full-Day Wildlife Exploration in Kidepo Valley

Spend the day exploring the remote wilderness of Kidepo Valley National Park. Venture into the Kidepo Valley itself, known for its dramatic scenery, seasonal riverbeds, and unique wildlife species. Search for cheetahs, ostriches, bat-eared foxes, jackals, and other animals rarely seen elsewhere in Uganda. The vast open savannahs and mountain backdrops provide outstanding opportunities for wildlife photography and nature observation.

Day 4: Nature Walk and Afternoon Game Drive

Begin the day with a guided nature walk led by an experienced ranger, offering a closer look at the park’s flora, smaller wildlife, and birdlife. Walking safaris provide a unique perspective on the ecosystem and allow you to appreciate the wilderness at a slower pace. Later, enjoy another game drive through different sectors of the park in search of predators, large mammals, and bird species that may not have been encountered earlier in the safari.

Day 5: Return to Kampala or Entebbe
